After passing my online test, it was now time to move onto orientation and class.
Orientation consisted of going over some of what we learned from our online class. Meeting the instructor and getting our gear; rental and was included in the price of the class. Orientation was great and our dive instructor was awesome. They really want to see you pass and will work with you.
The following day, we set out to do our pool skills. I was really nervous because swimming was something I’d always been afraid of. However, I’d been practicing for awhile, prior to signing up.
We started around 7 p.m. and it took about 4 hours for us to get through the skills. The biggest thing for me was having to swim back and forth for I believe it was 6 or 7 laps without stopping. It didn’t matter how you swam (on your back, doggy pedal, etc.), just that you did. One classmate had the same apprehension as I did but we were each others support team and we accomplished the task. I was pretty damn proud of myself.
